Dr Ross Gillanders has over two decades’ worth of optical chemical sensor development for water quality, food packaging, and explosives. He has worked across academia and industry on applying sensor technologies in the real world, working closely with end-users to understand the environment.

Chairman
Keith Millican is a seasoned executive with over 35 years of global business experience. He has a diverse background, including audit and corporate finance with PWC and Lloyds Bank, and senior management positions in the international packaging sector with Borden Inc, Lawson Mardon, and Alusuisse-Lonza Group.

Commercial Champion
Iain is a time-served electrician to trade, who quickly moved into project engineering and management before creating IDS in 2002. He is known for his drive and a client focussed approach to delivery.

Daniel supports the formation and development of spinout companies from ideation through to external fundraising. Leveraging 8 years in the capital markets and start-up ecosystem, Daniel drives the commercial growth of spinout companies at the University of St Andrews.

Dr Heikal focusses on the commercialisation and exploitation of university IP. He has over 10 years’ international experience as an industry-facing researcher and technology transfer professional, translating fundamental science into outputs that directly benefit society and the economy.

Graham Turnbull is scientific and technical advisor to Lightwater Sensors. He is Professor of Physics at the University of St Andrews and previous Head of the School of Physics and Astronomy.
